Our long story made short began at the Mineral Discovery Center...

We saw HUGE trucks, had a picnic, fed some ground squirrels, named some ground squirrels....

A couple showed Allen where they had seen a rattlesnake so we could keep a close eye on our girls. Now, as we're leaving, Allen goes to show me the snake, but we can't see it. Then we see a ground squirrel run past that cactus and out of nowhere (from the shadow) the snake bites the squirrel, they wrestle for about 5-6 seconds. Squirrel gets away and slowly limps back toward it's home...

where it collapses and dies just before it reaches the hole.

Then the snake was taking way too long to find his food and Allen really wanted to see the snake eat his dinner so Allen used some sticks to flick the squirrel and it nearly landed on the snake. Then the snake showed his gratitude the only way I can think of. He ate the squirrel.

We felt like we just had a National Geographic moment. It was pretty neat.
