Casting #2

Feb 13th:
X-rays were taken one week after her camo cast was put on.  The tibia had started to collapse in the space where it was shattered.  It was off by 19 degrees.  We took her into surgery that night.  The doctor reset the bone and drilled pins to hold it in place.  He then put on a cast up to her mid thigh.  The longer cast makes everything a lot more stable and is not painful to her when we have to pick her up to move her because she is not allowed to walk and put weight on it.  The biggest thing right now is dealing with not being able to scratch the itchy skin under her cast.  Here are some X-rays of the progression and some dressed up pictures from our families "fancy Valentine's dinner".  We are taking things one hour at a time.  Thank you family and friends that have helped babysit, chauffeur, pray for Elsie, make us dinner, visit, and play with the girls.
We are so grateful for everyones kindness and love!

Wow! I don't know what I would do if my oldest was put into a cast! Having 3 kids is crazy and I depend on Kaitlynn a lot and if all of a sudden she needed me to do everything for her to - wow! Hope recovery comes as planned and your sanity stays!
